Impacts of Urban Shrinkage on Haze Pollution-Evidence from China

This study focuses on 55 shrinking cities selected by the urban shrinkage index using data about population of 250 prefecture-level Chinese from 2012 to 2017. It analyzes theoretical impacts haze pollution and spatial distribution autocorrelation shrinkage. The error model (SEM) fully modified least squares (FMOLSs) regression are used empirically examine at national regional levels. results indicate that showed agglomeration northeast China had largest number cities. Nationwide, reduced pollution. An increase in proportion secondary industries, economic development, built-up areas intensified pollution, while an green area parks alleviated such Regionally, except for west China, were significantly negative.
